Securing the Fuel Array from the Escape Pod
Your journey begins immediately upon spawning into the first stage of a new run, provided you are playing a character that uses a standard escape pod. Before rushing out to fight monsters, turn around and interact with the damaged back panel of your landing vessel. Doing so ejects the Fuel Array, an active equipment item that occupies your primary item slot and poses a massive danger throughout your journey.
This volatile battery will instantly detonate if your character's health drops below 50 percent, immediately ending your run in explosive failure. Because of this restriction, high-mobility survivors like Loader or Huntress are excellent choices for completing this trial safely. Keeping your distance from aggressive mobs ensures you can keep the array intact during the early stages.
Navigating to the Abyssal Depths
With the equipment safely secured, your next objective is to progress through the stages until you reach the fourth environment level. You need to look out for the Abyssal Depths, a cavernous underworld stage characterized by its glowing crystals and vertical rock structures. If the game routes you to an alternate stage like the Siren's Call, you will need to try again or use the Bazaar Between Time to guarantee your destination.
Using the Newt Altars to dream of the Abyssal Depths beforehand is a highly reliable strategy to avoid unwanted stage randomness. Once you arrive in the dangerous subterranean area, your primary focus shifts to survival while locating the broken robot body. The intense magma hazards and high enemy density mean you must tread carefully to prevent your health from dropping too low.
Locating and Repairing the Broken Robot
The damaged cyborg unit is hidden high above the ground floor, perched on top of the massive central platforms dominating the map. To reach this elevated zone, you can utilize the environmental steam vents scattered across the floor to launch your character upward. Alternatively, survivors possessing advanced vertical mobility can easily scale the steep stone structures without relying on the vents.
Look closely around the upper metal scaffoldings for a small, inactive mechanical plant figure slumped over in the dirt. Interacting with the broken model while holding the battery triggers an instant repair sequence that restores the creature to life. Fulfilling this final requirement unlocks the Power Plant achievement globally, granting you permanent access to REX on all future runs.
